Terms of use and where the line is
The single most important line first: VideoDownloaderHub does not provide a download service. We host no media files, proxy no download requests and run no parsing endpoint. This site is an information reference about third-party tools, nothing more.
Effective date: 27 September 2026
Scope
These terms apply to inyoutubedownloader.com and all of its pages. By using the site you confirm you have read and accept these terms.
If you disagree with any part of them, stop using the site.
What this site is
VideoDownloaderHub is an information reference site. All we do is index third-party video download tools, test their features ourselves, and turn the results into rankings and reviews.
Here is what we do not do:
- We do not host, store or distribute any media file
- We do not proxy, forward or relay any download request
- We provide no parsing endpoint and no download API
- We provide no method for bypassing a paywall, a membership gate, encryption or DRM
Every download happens inside the third-party tool you chose, and has nothing to do with this site. We have no affiliation with any tool we list, and every outbound link to an official channel carries nofollow.
We take no payment for placement, and the order follows only our published testing method.
Where the legal line sits
This is the question we get asked most. What follows is general information and not legal advice.
What is usually tolerated: private copying
Most jurisdictions have a private-copying exception: a copy made from a lawful source for personal, non-commercial use is exempt. Saving a public video you are entitled to access so you can watch it offline yourself usually falls inside that.
The exception has two conditions, and both have to hold:
- The source has to be lawful. Content on a pirate site is not a lawful source, even if you only ever watch it yourself.
- No circumvention of technical protection measures. The moment you have to get around encryption, a paywall or DRM, the exception stops applying immediately, regardless of whether the copy is for you.
What the exception does not cover
| Action | Exception may apply | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Downloading a public video to watch offline yourself | Inside the exception in most regions, but may still breach platform terms | |
| Passing the file on to other people | Distribution is outside the exception | |
| Re-uploading it to another platform | Straightforward infringement | |
| Using it in commercial content or ads | Commercial use, needs a licence | |
| Bypassing a paywall, membership or DRM | Circumvention is a separate offence in many regions | |
| Downloading from a pirate site for yourself | Source is not lawful | |
| The platform's own offline feature | Licensed route, the safest option |
For background on where these lines fall, see the new reading of the private copy exception.
Music and images carry their own copyright
One thing people overlook: the copyright in a video belongs to the uploader, but the copyright in the background music usually belongs to a label or the musician. Likewise, the copyright in a Pinterest image sits with the original creator, not whoever re-pinned it. Using that audio track or image in your own content needs a licence from that party.
The platform terms layer
People assume copyright law is the whole story. There are actually two independent sets of constraints:
- Copyright law. This is the layer where the private-copying exception operates.
- The platform's terms of service. This is a contract between you and the platform. Almost every major platform explicitly forbids unauthorised downloading, whether the copy is for you or not.
Breaching the terms is usually a contract matter rather than a copyright one, and the consequence is normally a restricted or banned account. Probably fine legally and the platform will not act are two different statements.
For the specific limits on each platform, see Supported sites.
Prohibited use
By using this site, you agree not to:
- Use anything on this site to encourage or assist infringement
- Ask us for a way around a paywall, a membership gate or DRM (we will not supply one)
- Scrape our content to auto-generate low-quality pages or resell it
- Fabricate or alter our review conclusions and republish them
- Interfere with the normal operation of the site in any way
Third-party tool disclaimer
Every tool listed here is a third-party product. For those tools we give no warranty of any kind, including but not limited to:
- Availability (platform policy changes at any time, and any tool can break)
- Security (particularly the page permissions a browser extension asks for)
- Compliance (whether it is lawful where you live)
- Their own privacy practices and how they handle data
You install and use third-party tools at your own risk. Our advice: download only from official channels, prefer open source, restrict extension permissions to the domains you actually need, and disable them when idle. More on this in the extension security baseline.
Our reviews reflect testing at a point in time and are not a guarantee of the result you get today.
Using our content
The text, tables and scoring system on this site belong to VideoDownloaderHub.
Allowed: reading it, sharing links, and quoting briefly as long as you credit the source and link the original page.
Not allowed: copying whole pages, bulk scraping to generate content, republishing with the attribution stripped out, or passing our scoring system off as your own.
The names and trademarks of the tools we list belong to their respective owners. We use them for identification and description only, which implies no affiliation or endorsement.
Copyright and DMCA complaints
Because this site hosts no media files, almost any complaint about video content belongs with whoever actually hosts it, not with us.
If you believe our written content infringes your rights
Send a notice to legal@inyoutubedownloader.com and include the following:
- Your contact details (name, email, plus address and phone if relevant)
- The material you say infringes, with its exact URL on this site
- A description of the work infringed and the basis of your rights in it
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is unauthorised
- A statement that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act for the rights holder
- Your signature (electronic is fine)
We respond within 5 business days of receipt. Anything that checks out is removed or corrected.
If you are a tool we have listed
Two situations, handled differently:
- The data is wrong (a miscalculated score, a feature description that does not match, a stale status): use the correction process and we will retest and fix it. That is the fastest route.
- You want the whole page removed: tell us the specific grounds. Simply disliking the score is not grounds for removal, but if you can show our testing was wrong, we will retest and publish the correction.
Note: filing a knowingly false infringement notice can carry legal liability in some jurisdictions.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Content on this site is provided as is, with no express or implied warranty of any kind.
To be explicit: everything we write about law and compliance is general information, not legal advice. Copyright rules differ a lot between countries, and what applies depends on your jurisdiction, the nature of the content and how you use it. For an actual dispute, consult a qualified lawyer.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, VideoDownloaderHub accepts no liability for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from use of the information on this site or of any third-party tool.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. A material change updates the effective date at the top of this page and, where it matters, gets an explanation in Industry news.
Continuing to use the site means you accept the updated terms.
