Privacy policy

The short version

We collect anonymous traffic statistics and whatever you submit through a form (corrections, contact, newsletter email). Nothing beyond that.

No registration, no user profiling, no ad tracking, and we sell no data.

Scope

This policy applies to inyoutubedownloader.com and all of its pages.

It does not apply to the third-party tools and platforms we link to. Once you follow an outbound link, data handling is that third party's responsibility, so read their own privacy policy.

What we do not collect

This list comes first because it matters more, and because it is the fundamental difference between this site and an online download tool.

• We never collect the links you want to download. The site has no parsing capability and no input box anywhere for pasting a video URL. The search box only searches this site.
• We host no media files and never touch one.
• There is no account to register, so there is no password and no user profile.
• No cross-site tracking, no ads served, and no advertiser tracking scripts.
• No user profiling and no behavioural targeting.
• We do not sell or rent any data.

What we actually collect

1. Anonymous traffic statistics

Server logs and analytics record the pages visited, the referring page, an approximate location at country or region level, the browser and operating system type, and the time of the visit.

That data is never used to identify an individual. It only tells us which pages are useful and which need work.

2. What you submit yourself

The email address on a correction is optional. You can submit without it, we just cannot reply to you.

How we use that data

• Replying to your question or correction
• Sending the update alerts you subscribed to, which you can cancel at any time
• Counting which pages get used, so we can prioritise content
• Spotting and fixing site faults

Never used for: targeted advertising, selling to third parties, or merging with other data sources to build a profile.

Cookies and local storage

This site uses very few cookies, in two categories:

Necessary

• Interface preferences: your language choice, for example. Stored locally in the browser, never uploaded.
• Security and abuse prevention: stopping automated scripts from hammering the forms.

Both are required for the site to work, and without them the forms break.

Analytics

Used for anonymous traffic statistics, with no personally identifiable information, and never for advertising.

Not present

No ad-tracking cookies, no cross-site tracking pixels, and no social platform tracking scripts.

What you can control

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. With them blocked, reading the site still works normally, and only the remembered interface preference and form submission are affected.

One more thing: the filters on this site, in the downloader library, the rankings and the platform pages, are entirely client-side. Your filter selections are never sent to a server and never logged.

Third parties and outbound links

Our static assets, meaning fonts, stylesheets and scripts, are all self-hosted and never loaded from a third-party CDN. That means your browser makes no request to any third-party domain while you are on this site.

Links to a listed tool's official channel all carry nofollow. Once you follow an outbound link you are on third-party ground, and the data handling there is outside this policy.

We give no warranty over the privacy practices of third-party tools. One thing worth flagging: a browser extension usually needs high-level permission to read data on the sites you visit, so weigh that up before installing. See the third-party tool disclaimer.

Retention periods

• Server logs: cleared after about 30 days.
• Correction and contact records: kept for a while after the case closes so we can trace similar issues, normally no longer than 12 months.
• Subscriber email addresses: kept until you unsubscribe.
• Anonymous statistics: kept long-term in aggregate form, with no personal identifiers.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, to correct anything inaccurate, to delete your data, or to unsubscribe you from email alerts.

Email privacy@inyoutubedownloader.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Because the site has no registration, we can usually only find your records via the email address you used. If you sent a correction without an email address, we hold nothing that links back to you, and in that case there is nothing to delete.

The fastest way to stop email alerts is the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any alert.

Children

This is a technical information site aimed at adults. It is not directed at children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact privacy@inyoutubedownloader.com and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. A material change updates the effective date at the top of this page and, where it matters, gets an explanation in Industry news.
